Here’s what to do for a week of fashionable fete.
The catwalks are ablaze May 15 through 18 when Miami Fashion Week kicks off at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Bringing designers like Agatha Ruiz and Custo Barcelona to town, the fashionable fete will feature runway shows, competitions and pop-up boutiques.
If you’re wondering what to don for the occasion, here are a few looks that will have even the designers noticing your sense of style.
Day One
Left: Anya Ponorovskaya; Right: Prada
The first day of Miami Fashion Week comes complete with a Miami style showcase, featuring local designers, as well as a look at the latest from Custo Barcelona. Deck yourself out in Anya Ponorovskaya. Her polka dot dress is a whimsy, yet sophisticated look for the event. And this independent New York designer, located in the Design District, brings a taste of what Miami’s most fashionable district encompasses. Pair it with red Prada sandals to bring a pop to the look.
Day Two
Left: Marni
A glimpse at children’s fashion, the Jones African American showcase, a Peruvian showcase and special guest Andres Sarda round out day two of Miami Fashion Week. All make for the perfect occasion to rock a beautiful frock from Marni. Pair the green floral-print dress with the green striped trunk for a bit of pattern play, which shows you aren’t afraid to try something new.
Day Three
Left: Delpozo
The Argentine showcase, an Italian showcase and a swimwear showcase anchor day three, which means it’s time to bring a fierce look to this event. And that calls for Delpozo. The sweater and shorts are an eye-catching combo. A work of art, even. Be prepared to catch the camera’s lens just as much as the models on the runway with this stunning set.
Day Four
Left: Maison Martin Margiela; Right: Christian Louboutin
Day four calls for the Pret-a-Porter showcase, as well as Sherri Hill, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada and the closing event. Go out with a bang in Maison Martin Margiela’s beautiful Defile skirt and top. It’s elegant, edgy and memorable for the closing ceremonies. Pair with the Djalouzi from Christian Louboutin to tie the whole look together.
