Interior designer, artist and TV personality, David Bromstad, will be the Grand Marshal for the 27th Annual AIDS Walk Miami on April 26, 2015.
Organized by non-profit Care Resource, the event aims to raise awareness for those suffering with or affected by HIV/AIDS in South Florida and across the country.
"It was an honor for me to be chosen for this walk. It means so much to me,” said Bromstad. “This disease has touched so many in our community and around the world.”
Bromstad was the original winner of HGTV’s Design Star television show, which led to further hosting gigs on the channel. As host of the hit series HGTV, Color Splash, the designer completed more than 150 home makeovers in various cities, including Miami.
“We have come so far, but our journey is not yet finished. This disease is not a gay disease, it's not a straight disease,” added Bromstad. “It’s a disease that has made an impact on millions of people all over the world; men, women and children alike.”
Originally from a small town in Minnesota, the designer launched his career at Walt Disney World in Orlando and executed major installations for Disney as well as Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. Additionally, he produced his first exhibition of art and custom-built furniture for Art Basel Miami Beach.

“We walk together in unity,” said Bromstad about the event in Miami. “When we walk, we walk for those who have died, for those who are suffering, for those who have lost loved ones, but we walk for a promising tomorrow, when a cure will finally put an end to HIV and Aids. Let each step bring us closer to that day!”
Registration and opening ceremonies will be held at the Miami Beach Convention Center and the walk begins at 9 a.m. Following the event there will be a celebration with live music, free massages and light bites at the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens. To register online, visit AidsWalkMiami.org.
