This month Miami welcomed the return of Miami Spice, a citywide promotion offering discounted, three-course specialty menus at dining hotspots throughout the city. Here in the Miami Design District, we’re welcoming the promotion at two of our staple restaurants, Michael’s Genuine and Cypress Tavern. However, if you’re looking for dining in the District at a similar price point, your options don’t end there.
Michael’s Genuine
A neighborhood mainstay since 2007, Michael’s Genuine is helmed by Michael Schwartz and it offers the perfect blend of casual luxury and delicious, locally-sourced food. For Miami Spice, you can enjoy dinner at this iconic Miami outpost on Sunday-Thursday evenings with dishes like grilled peaches, homemade bucatini topped with a rabbit Bolognese, melt-in-your mouth short ribs and fresh, summertime desserts. And as an added bonus, Michael's is now offering complimentary valet parking now through the end of summer.
Cypress Tavern
Also pioneered by Schwartz, Cypress Tavern is a American tavern and cocktail bar with an emphasis on the wood-fired grill. Sundays, as well as Tuesday-Friday evenings, guests can enjoy a uniquely crafted Miami Spice menu offering some of Cypress Tavern’s signature dishes such as a perfectly charred leg of lamb, tuna crudo and chocolate pot de creme. Even its epic Cypress Burger makes an appearance on the Spice menu. Be sure to try one of the craft cocktails to complement your dining experience.
Dusk
Though summertime pop-up Dusk is not an official restaurant in the Miami Spice program, it offers a similar price point and is open through the end of Miami Spice on September 30th. The savory and sweet menu has something deliciously decadent for everyone. Try the Caesar salad croquetas, tender brisket saltado, and fruit ceviche for a three-course meal that’s as delicious as any Miami Spice meal around. (Open for dinner Thursday to Saturday nights.)
Harry’s Pizzeria
Since 2011 Harry’s has defined seasonal and spectacular pizza. Casual, comfortable, and seriously good, Harry’s is open for lunch and dinner seven days per week. While the only pizzeria in the Design District is not a participating Miami Spice restaurant, you’ll get a flavorful meal in the same price range with options like polenta fries, creamy peach and stracciatella salad, a rock shrimp pizza and for dessert, a warm chocolate chip cookie.
