While art and fashion are no doubt bedfellows, nowhere is that more true than at the new Tod’s outpost in the Miami Design District. Known for its classic loafers and totes, the brand new location is the second in Miami, making it the only city in the US with two locations.

The unique store concept, designed by New York architecture firm Bonetti & Kozerski, can transform from retail to gallery space in the blink of an eye by simply sliding out the store’s 60-foot folding walls. These closet-like mobile walls instantly tuck away the merchandise and can serve as either a backdrop for HD digital projections or as a blank space to hang artwork. While Tod’s store concepts typically draw inspiration from their surrounding locations, the MDD’s gallery concept is totally unique to Miami.

Also unique to Miami? The store’s custom Gommino loafer program. The MDD location is the only in the company where you can touch and feel all the materials and design elements in person while designing your custom loafer. (Other stores have to use an iPad!)

Counting celeb fans like Blake Lively, Jessica Alba, and Olivia Munn, the Tod’s Double T bags will be available in special edition limited skins for the opening. Limited edition styles of men’s classic sneakers and Gommino loafers and women’s heeled sandals and wedges are also available.

Limited edition Tod’s pieces share wall space with artwork curated by the Tod’s creative team. The space calls to mind international art galleries and blends contemporary character with classic traditional Italian design. No doubt art lovers and fashionistas alike will feel right at home in the space.
