Seldom do Italy and the United States synchronize quite so perfectly as they did at the close of October, when Swiss watchmaker Parmigiani Fleurier introduced its latest horological offering, the Tonda 1950 Tourbillon, on both sides of the Atlantic, just days apart.

The humidity has dropped, Joe’s Stone Crabs is open and traffic is bumper-to-bumper at all times of the day. It can only mean one thing… it’s  “season” here in Miami. With that, social calendars are quickly filling up with cocktail parties, store openings and galas galore.  Make heads turn when you saunter into any soirée by adding a pair of statement earrings to your ensemble.

Jay Z isn’t the only person singing Tom Ford’s praises. The opening of TOM FORD’s Miami flagship has the entire city rejoicing the arrival of the label’s Design District location—Jay Z’s “Tom Ford” earworm notwithstanding. This particular store is unlike any other, blurring the lines between art, fashion and design, which is a style emblematic of the neighborhood. “Architecturally, [the Miami Design District] has become one of the most exciting and vibrant places in the world and I am thrilled to open my sixth US store there,” said Tom Ford.

Tartan is on trend this fall.  Designers ranging from Max Mara to Prada are showing the striped pattern that generally consists of horizontal and vertical banded lines in contrasting colors. To avoid looking like a member of a Scottish pipe band, we suggest wearing just one piece at a time. Here are ways to incorporate plaid this season.

Like many of its predecessors, the Clé de Cartier is culturally evocative with features clearly pointing toward the future of watchmaking. It’s this duality—a focus on innovation and veritable respect for the history of the brand—that makes Cartier’s latest creation one of the year’s most notable. Drawing from the distinctive designs of the popular Tank (which was inspired by the aggressive rectangular shape of WWI’s armored vehicles) and the circular Ballon Bleu, the Clé introduces the tightly drawn curve to the watch wearer’s vernacular. From the bezel to the lugs to the ovoid case, all facets of the watch have been gently rounded or tapered for total fluidity between elements.
