Sid Vicious, John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten), and Patti Smith as fashion icons? Sid might be rolling over in his grave. As announced yesterday by Thomas Campbell and Andrew Bolton, "The Met's spring 2013 Costume Institute exhibition, PUNK: Chaos to Couture, will examine punk's impact on high fashion from the movement's birth in the early 1970s through its continuing influence today."

Richard Artschwager an accomplished American artist passed away on Saturday, he was 89 years old. At one point, there were discussions of working with Mr. Artschwager for a project here in the Miami Design District. Sadly, it never came to fruition but he is remembered as having been a very nice and talented man. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends. Perhaps one of our favorite little facts about Mr. Artschwager was that even though he'd been making art for decades — sculpture, painting, drawings and other objects — his college degree was actually in physics. A renaissance man.

Just in time for Valentine's Day, there's a lovely, new bakery in the Miami Design District. Thomas Worhach owns and operates the bakery along with his wife, Karina.  Tom, a CIA grad, and pastry chef with 30 years of experience personally handles all of the baking.  Before opening BSweet he spent time working in kitchens across the US at Hotel Bel-Air, two Ritz Carlton properties (Houston and Philly), and close to home, the Four Seasons West Palm Beach.

Let's take a stroll down one of the most fashionable memory lanes in history. It's called IMPACT: CFDA at 50 and highlights the best American designers of the last 50 years. First hosted at FIT last year, the exhibit has made its why south and is spending winter in Boca, the Boca Musuem of Art to be exact. You can purchase tickets online. "Each living designer selected to participate in the exhibition has chosen a single object or ensemble that best represents his or her impact on the fashion world." Designers included in the exhibition are Michael Kors, Donna Karan, Norma Kamali, Francisco Costa / Calvin Klein, Vera Wang, and Diane von Furstenberg. This exhibit runs through April 21rst.
