With Memorial Day marking the unofficial start of summer, the season of picnics and barbecues is upon us. To celebrate, this June through August the Miami Design District and Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink are partnering on a three-event summer series that celebrates the season by reimagining a few of our favorite classic outdoor pastimes for a truly ‘Genuine’ experience.

364 days out of the year moms spend their time caring for, supporting, and worrying about their children no matter how old their kids might be. This Sunday, May 8, give mom one day off a year and reverse the roles: pamper her, care for her, shop for her and give her the most memorable Mother’s Day in the Design District.

It’s that time of year again, when locals and food-lovers alike flock to the beach for something other than sunshine: The South Beach Wine and Food Festival. Beginning February 24, chefs from all over the world lead demos, host dinners and showcase their cooking. Though some will be excited to see Food Network headliners and big name celebrities, we’re looking forward to seeing local favorites flex their culinary muscles in new, exciting settings. Because most SBWFF events are sold out by now, we’ve compiled a list of ancillary dinners and events you’ll want to head to catch your favorite Design District chefs during this year’s festival.

The most romantic day of the year happens to be on a weekend, leaving you plenty of time to execute the perfect date. Here’s a short list of couple happenings in the Miami Design District that will take the pressure off of planning.

After New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day is the one holiday of the year where wine is requisite—be it to toast with a loved one, to gather round with a group friends or to drown sorrows with. All valid reasons to drink (if you ask us), though not just any wine will do on V-Day. For some much-needed insight, we tapped Rachel Barowsky, sommelier and store manager for Abaco Premium Wines—a high-end shop and retail concept in Palm Court. Here you can purchase wines as well as schedule tastings, with or without cheese and dessert pairings (reservations accepted via OpenTable). So before you go telling your date you’re a veritable oenophile, here’s what you need to know.
