Every July South Beach is flooded with bikini clad models and swimwear designers debuting their 2014 collections for Swim Week. The producers of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week added Swim Week to their roster a few years ago, and since then it has made South Beach a fashion madhouse for the second or third week of July.  Enter stage left, the Miami Design District, which offers a refuge for those wanting to escape the crowds, but still feel chic and glamorous.

Why not skip the Swim Week mayhem or add to it and design your own detectible Design District day? Start your day out by scoping out the newest sunnies or a new pair of sandals and then fuel your shopping-infused hunger at Cypress Room, which now serves lunch Monday through Friday from noon to 2:30pm. Menu highlights include a tuna confit salad and a mouth-watering lobster sandwich complete with fresh avocado and heirloom tomatoes.  Sink into one of their cozy mint green bench seats and linger while you enjoy a cocktail and a sweet treat. After dining on an artfully crafted dessert, consider another run at shopping or perhaps book a 55-minute Swedish massage with a 55-minute organic facial at Emena Spa which is $99 during July and August for Miami Spa Month. The Miami Design District offers everything you need to craft the perfect day of shopping, dining and spa-ing.
