It’s a new year and that means it’s time for a new season of “pop up” dining experiences in the Design District from The Genuine Hospitality Group’s three restaurants: Harry’s Pizzeria, Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink and The Cypress Room.

Over the years Michael Schwartz, the James Beard award-winning chef and owner of The Genuine Hospitality Group, has made it a habit of welcoming national talent to “pop up” the food and spirit of their own restaurants within the walls of Harry’s Pizzeria for a special evening.

“Since 2011, we've been doing these chef pop-up dinners and it's turned into a really great thing,” said Schwartz. “The chefs are usually in town celebrating a new cook book, new restaurant, or just want to be in Miami. The dinners are one seating and family style so it's really intimate, which is nice. It's always a good time.”

This year, with the addition of the throwback fine dining destination The Cypress Room to his roster of restaurants, Schwartz is offering more opportunities to dine in great company with each of his neighborhood restaurants hosting special dining events throughout January and February.

“Next month is packing some serious heat,” added Schwartz. “We’re really excited with all the talent that is headed our way."

Harry’s Pizzeria is kicking off its third season of pop-up pizzeria dinners on January 21 when they host James Beard Award-winning chef and restaurateur Ken Oringer and Food & Wine’s 2011 Best New Chef: People’s Choice and 2013 James Beard Award nominee Jamie Bissonnette from Boston’s Toro Restaurant - the series’ first time highlighting the cuisine of Barcelona. February 19 brings Food & Wine’s 2012 Best New Chef Winner Jenn Louis from Portland’s Lincoln Restaurant, known for her consistent, simple, and purposeful approach to food. Dinners includes a welcome cocktail, passed hors d’oeuvres, four courses including dessert, free-flowing wines and a gift to take home, tax and gratuity for $150 per person.

The Cypress Room is channeling the epitome of New York fine dining for its first ever pop-up experience when it hosts Gramercy Tavern’s James Beard awarding-winning chef Michael Anthony on Sunday, February 23. Gramercy Tavern is legendary in the food world and a New York institution, earning dozens of accolades, including six James Beard awards, since opening its doors in 1994. Celebrating the release of his first cookbook, The Gramercy Tavern Cookbook, Anthony will be serving five course dinner including dessert and paired with wine, along with a welcome cocktail and a signed cookbook, with tax and gratuity included for $300.

Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink hasn’t had a guest chef cook take over its kitchen in nearly two years, but that’s changing as it hosts James Beard Award-winning chef Jeffrey Michaud on February 18. Michaud will be serving dishes straight from his new cookbook Eating Italy: A Chef’s Culinary Adventure. The meal includes welcome cocktail, four courses served family-style including dessert, wines by Wine Director Eric Larkee, and a signed copy of Eating Italy, with tax and gratuity included for $150.
