Tucked away in a former house at the edge of the Design District is BSweet Coffee Shop, the cozy year-and-half old, cottage-like restaurant and pastry outpost. Encompassing a truly unique neighborhood feel, the restaurant serves up handmade desserts, coffee, sandwiches and salads every week day.

BSweet is owned and operated by the husband and wife team of Tom Worhach and Karina Gimenez. Worhach is a renowned pastry chef who was named one of the “Top 10 Pastry Chefs” in the U.S. by Chocolatier Magazine. Over his more than 30 years in the business he has worked in some of the world’s best kitchens including Hotel Bel-Air, Mansion on Turtle Creek, The Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia and lastly, Fisher Island, where he and Gimenez met.

According to Worhach, it had always been Gimenez’s dream to own a coffee shop and they decided to seize the opportunity when they found their location in the Design District. The small space is truly a labor of love and encompasses the meaning of a “mom and pop” shop as Worhach runs the kitchen, Gimenez runs the front of the house while their son helps around in both.

Pastries are made daily and have gained such a fan base that they quickly sell out by lunch time. Popular sweet treats include a vanilla coconut rum cake with dulce de leche, flan and Worhach’s signature creme brûlées — that are so good even Wolfgang Puck asked for the recipe.

Desserts aren’t all you’ll find as BSweet also has a full menu serving breakfast all day, sandwiches and soups, that are all made-to-order from fresh ingredients.

On any given day you can find friends grabbing a quick lunch, young professionals catching up on work on the free wifi, and women conversing over pastries and coffee. BSweet has become a neighborhood spot that fits into its surroundings perfectly.
