The Genuine Hospitality Group is known for hosting some of the best pop-up dinners in Miami, bringing in top chefs from all over the country to host dinners at Harry’s Pizzeria, Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink and The Cypress Room. But this time they are changing it up a bit, bringing in one of the world’s top sommeliers for an interactive scratch-and-sniff wine dinner.

On Tuesday, February 17th, The Cypress Room will host master sommelier, author, Tequila and Mezcal producer, Richard Betts for an evening of wine and spirits pairings. Betts is the author of the New York Times Best Seller The Essential Scratch & Sniff Guide to Becoming a Wine Expert and during the dinner he plans to make everyone an expert on wine in a fun and approachable way.

In his book, the elements of wine are divided into three different parts — fruit, earth and wood — and samples of these elements will be on hand for people to sniff and taste during the outdoor reception to kick off the evening. Betts will explain to the group the different flavors that go into each wine and shows you why you like them, or why you don’t.

During the six-course dinner both Betts and the The Genuine Hospitality Group’s Wine Director Eric Larkee will be pouring specially selected wines for guests with each course. Betts admits, “it’s a little bit of a dance off but in the end the only person that’s right is the person drinking the wine.”

Tickets to the dinner are $240 and include a signed copy of Betts’ The Essential Scratch & Sniff Guide to Becoming a Wine Expert, tax and gratuity. They can be purchased here: https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/1128939
