New Releases: When Movies and Watch Making Collide
When creating a movie, every second counts. From the acting to the editing, timing must be precise in order to get the right cut (and rave reviews.) Now thanks to IWC, the Swiss Luxury watch manufacturer and new resident to the Miami Design District, film makers and film lovers alike will have the opportunity to make perfect time with the launch of the new Portofino Hand-Wound Eight Days Edition “TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL 2015” watch.
For the third year in a row, IWC will be Official ‘Festival-Time’ Partner of the Tribeca Film Festival®, which kicks off April 15-April 26. “Given the similarities between watchmaking and film making – the elaborate mechanics, master craftsmanship, and meticulous attention to detail and timing – it is no surprise that IWC supports film festivals across the globe, notably in Beijing, Zurich, London, and Dubai,” says Georges Kern, CEO of IWC Schaffhausen.
If you’re not lucky enough to score tickets to the famed festival, fret not. The new Miami Design District store is one of the US boutiques that will carry the limited edition – only 100 have been produced – Portofino Hand-Wound Eight Days Edition “TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL 2015.”
The watch’s technology and extreme intricacies exude luxury as do all IWC timepieces. It features the Pellaton winding system, 8day power reserve, date display, and IWC-manufactured 59210-caliber movement that will run precisely and reliably for a full 192 hours, or 8 days, before it automatically stops. Paying homage to the home of the Tribeca Film Festival, New York City, the dial is a “crisp slate color that embodies the New York City streets, while the small seconds subdial is Bordeauxcolored, symbolizing the red carpets”, the latter being a mainstay at any celebrity studded event. Additionally, the Tribeca Film Festival logo and the lettering ‘one out of 100’ is on the watch face serving as a reminder for the lucky owners just how timely they were in purchasing the special edition.
IWC Schaffhausen is located at 140 NE 39th Street, Suite 125, Miami, Florida 33137
