On Friday, October 14th, Miami’s fashion community flocked to the pink and purple tinged Moore Building to honor fashion influencer, photographer and cancer survivor, Angeles Almuna at the first ever Fashion Fights Cancer event.

Amidst the beautiful blooms by Miami floral designer Roses et Pivoines, guests nibbled on canapes from the soon-to-be open Design District eatery Estefan Kitchen and cupcakes adorned with breast cancer awareness ribbons from Sweet Guilt by Angelica.

In a poignant moment following a touching speech about her battle with breast cancer, Angeles surprised the crowd with an impromptu tango with friend Ray Sullivan in a stunning pair of jeweled pink satin Miu Miu heels, her first time dancing since her diagnosis.

As the Whispering Angel flowed (because #pink), guests hit the dance floor and enjoyed a surprise performance by local gypsy jazz band, The French Horn Collective

Miami-based jewelry company taudrey hosted a pop up at the event and donated 20 percent of proceeds to fund the completion of local artist Abstrk’s mural entitled “Angeles x Cancer”. The mural commemorates Angeles’ battle with cancer as well as provide hope to those who are battling or have lost a loved one to cancer. “Angeles x Cancer” will be painted on the iconic Living Room Wall at the intersection of 40th Street and NE 2nd Avenue.

“Every year, taudrey develops a rose-gold accented collection, proceeds of which are donated to a local breast cancer awareness initiative but this year, we dedicated to target our support toward one fighter. After meeting Angeles, we were moved to action by her strength and grace. She even helped to design a special necklace for our collection and so when we were asked to participate in her dedicated event, we jumped at the chance to offer our support and celebrate with her. Angeles is truly an angel and has inspired so many, the #taudsquad included,” said taudrey designer and owner Tiffany Dominguez.

"Magic is the perfect word to explain what the Fashion Fights Cancer event was,” said honoree Angeles Almuna. “It was an exceptional, extraordinary night where the Miami Design District created a pink, sophisticated party and turned the Moore Elastika Building into a paradise of gratitude, where my friends and my Miami community shared their love and support for me and for others who also need to celebrate life. The effort these creative people put in showed that we can work together for a good cause with style, honesty and with a deep meaning that might help others. It was truly an inspirational evening. Thank you to all, I am the most grateful person in the Magic City!"
