With the arrival of the first day of spring, our closets are in need of a major refresh. While a full on overhaul would be nice, integrating a few key pieces into your closet is enough to breathe new life into your old basics. We’ve perused our fave designers’ spring collections and picked out the pieces that will instantly revive your wardrobe.

Embroidered Jeans

Embroidery has popped up the last few seasons, emblazoning dresses, accessories and this season… denim. Give your boring jeans a break and scoop up a pretty embroidered pair for a dressier take on the classic. Alice + Olivia’s ‘Jane’ embellished five-pocket skinny jean features a midrise and gold glimmery embellishments.

Political Statement Tees

Political statement tees popped up on runways all over New York this season, but the tee that caught the eye of editors and celebs alike was Dior’s ‘We Should All Be Feminists’ tee. New designer Maria Grazia Chiuri’s first collection for Dior was critically praised and the tee was one of Fashion Week’s most talked about pieces. The tee, inspired by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s essay and Ted talk made a big splash. The limited edition piece will be available until May 15th and proceeds will benefit Rihanna’s charity, The Clara Lionel Foundation.

Round Sunnies

The newest shape for sunnies? 70’s flowerchild frames. Celebs and fashionistas alike have embraced a funkier frame this season. The double heart pair from Miu Miu is whimsical and fun, available in tan, blue, or lavender. While round sunnies may or may not be for everyone, oval and heart shape faces look best in the style.

90s Slipdress

The 90s closet staple — the slipdress — makes its return to closets everywhere this spring. Layer it under another dress as a slip, on its own for a night out, or layered over leggings for a more eclectic vibe. Zadig + Voltaire’s Cage dress is the perfect blend of subtle boudoir style and polished pretty. Opt for the black version for a more elegant look or pick up the electric blue shade for a bit of a funkier edge.

Varsity Jacket

The Varsity jacket has been making the rounds for a few seasons. The latest incarnation at Saint Laurent is a silky, easy silhouette in a pale blush that does a great job of marrying femininity with a masculine edge. Throw it on over a floaty dress for a great texture mix or pair with jeans and stilettos for a feminine tomboy look.
