A trip to the new Balenciaga store in the Miami Design District feels like a tour of a luxurious clothing factory.

Industrial touches like exposed ceilings, custom-created stone walls and gleaming chrome hardware give an edge to the high fashion space. Designed by creative director Demna Gvasalia, the space itself reflects the values and vision of the brand circa 2018. Balenciaga has always been a brand focused on the future and Gvasalia’s mission of industry change and a focus on the fusion of technology and style pervades every inch of the new location.

While the design of MDD’s Balenciaga outpost echos many of the same design elements used in the house’s other locations including both Paris flagship stores, the one-of-a-kind touches coded into the DNA of the space make it truly unique to the Design District. Pale blue functional solar panels are both beautiful and practical, marrying tech with style, much like the collection itself does. (The solar panels are also site-specific to Miami.) The large-scale BALENCIAGA lettering visible from the street provides the boutique with the ultimate “Instagram Moment."

Balenciaga fans will be psyched to learn that the MDD location will carry most of the runway collection. Peruse the first floor for women’s wear and an impressive collection of accessories, including the iconic City Bag aka the Motorcycle Bag. Be sure to take a trip up to the second floor to peek at both the menswear collection and the hot pink Balenciaga logo carpet.
