When season strikes, like clockwork, Miami residents complain about how traffic clogs up the city’s arteries, how the wait at Joe’s becomes absurdly longer than usual and how they can’t get into their favorite time slot at their boutique fitness class of choice. Yet, ask anyone, and they’ll tell you that it is the most wonderful time of the year. Reason being? The city is also filled with an electric vibe that comes along with the biggest event that closes out the year: Art Week.
With the art comes the parties and style and each year we tap some of the most stylish figures, both local and those visiting for the week, to share what they will be donning around town as the view exhibits, clink champagne glasses and zip from show to show.
Roman Jones

Roman Jones is a fixture in the Miami nightlife scene making clubs Mansion, Opium Garden and Prive household names as well as opening some of the most sought-after restaurants and bars like Kiki On The River and Baby Jane. When it comes to Jones’s style, he keeps things balanced blending more casual elements with formal ones.
Jones shares, “I’m excited to host my out of town friends and family at Kiki on The River. We are hosting a dinner for Spanish artist and actor Jordi Molla, and I’ll be wearing a St. Laurent velvet dinner jacket for a bit of formality which I usually pair with Nike Airforce 1’s.” During the day you can find him checking out SCOPE, “It is brilliantly curated and the best place to see emerging artists. The Okuda instillation looks incredible. You will find me there in my Gucci Chateau Marmont hoodie as I like to be comfortable and casual while walking the shows.” And late night? You’ll find him at Mokai. Touting his nighttime style as “nightcrawler” because “I’m usually in a pair of Dolce & Gabbana jeans, oversized shades and a perfectly faded beard by Rich the Barber. “
Erin Michelle Newberg

Girl about town, Erin Michelle Newberg has a penchant for style which includes a storage unit full of rolling racks dripping with vintage YSL, Chanel and more coveted designers, but her day-to-day is more casual. Newberg notes that that during Art Week she’ll replace her lululemon and Phat Buddha favorites for casual wear that is more more appropriate for the shows than it is the gym.
Opting for Rick Owens and COS, Newberg shares “My standard day look is my COS dark grey Crop Pleated Wool trousers (which I die for, hello high waisted heaven) paired with their simple white slim shirt with turn up sleeves, where of course I tuck it in and pop the collar.” “I also will throw on a light-weight leather Celine sac to keep it casual, and pair it with my favorite patent leather Celine sandals. And, of course will find me in Christian Roth eyewear.”
To give an example of how intense Art Week can get, Newberg shares that her car becomes her changing room and keeps her outfits for the day inside allowing her to change on the fly. “To me, I always stick with Rick (Owens). It is the ‘Art Week’ look everyone needs to strive for. For my La Prairie dinner at PAMM on the 6th, I will be in my brand new Sisyphis dress in black. It is appropriate and sexy. I will pair it with my Givenchy Black Shark Lock Leather Boots, my Diamond Large Van Cleef and Arpels Alhambra earrings and lots of Vhernier bracelets. This to me = outfit goals, and my reality!”
Nick Korniloff

For Nick Korniloff, who oversees the management and creative direction for Art Miami, CONTEXT Art Miami, Aqua Art Miami, Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary, Art Wynwood and Art New York this week in Miami is clearly one of his busiest.
Come mid-November is when things heat up for the hands-on director, who spends a lot of time on-site ensuring the spaces are ready for our galleries that travel internationally as well as coast to coast from the US. Korniloff shares “to keep up with the pace and commitments of overseeing three fairs - Art Miami, CONTEXT Art Miami and Aqua – “I look for clothes that are comfortable and classic. Everything has to be versatile enough to go from meeting with our construction crews to having dinner with a gallerist or collector.”
When asked about how his wardrobe accommodates his day-to-night schedule he shares that “typically I’ll wear a Zegna shirt and Hermes tie, especially for nighttime events. I like Theory for casual, tailored pieces and jeans. Prada and Gucci are dependable for finishing touches, like shoes and belts that will stand the test of time,” says Korniloff.
Joey Chancis,
Founder and Creative Director for Botox Labb, @botoxlabb
For the Miami-based beauty entrepreneur, Founder and Creative Director for Botox Labb, Chancis loves how so many different elements, art, fashion, food, wine and more all make up the heart of Art Week in Miami. As a host of the cocktail party at the Sagamore on December 4th, Chancis plans on wearing a Valentino mini dress that is embroidered lace with a satin lining in black (which is her signature color).
“It's been unseasonably warm in Miami so this is the perfect dress for all the outdoor garden and pool art events including the Sagamore event I’m hosting that will benefit The Childhood Cancer Project, which utilizes its funds for research to put an end to rare childhood cancer.” Chancis shares that the event will be selling raffle tickets for a chance to an Hermes Birkin bag valued at $14,000. All proceeds go to charity so do it for the kids and your handbag collection.
Elizabeth Sutton

For artist Elizbeth Sutton, this year’s Art Week is a profound one. On the last night of Art Basel last year, she and her team were in a tragic accident that took the life of a close friend and art assitant. She is gathering the strength to return, but plans to take a much different approach than last year in terms of her schedule and her wardrobe. “Last year I was running around like a chicken without a head, running my own gallery and events, hitting up all the parties and fairs so my wardrobe was formal on top, but trying to wear sweat resistance materials and sneakers on the bottom.”
This year she plans to travel with some of her best girlfriends for emotional support and while she does plan on art and parties, she also plans on sitting beach or poolside with cocktails and her close friends.
“I plan on having a light work schedule so I can allow myself to heal. Fewer work commitments and more chilling and dressing up with my girls for some parties.”
She plans on spending time in some of her favorite bikinis, like BANANHOT and also plans to wear lace crop top and a red embroidered cocktail dress from talented designer Margit David, the latter is for parties, not for the beach.
One thing for sure that will be part of her wardrobe, she’ll will be wearing Gucci accessories. Sutton also shares that she’ll be “rocking my clutches as will my girls. My outfits are all centered around my clutches.”
