Cartier’s newest collection is a study in contradictions. Elegant and rebellious, glamorous and punk; the line’s dual nature gives the Clash de Cartier collection broad appeal.

When the collection debuted in Paris in early April during a star-studded gala, Cartier International President and CEO Cyrille Vigneron described the collection thusly: “Clash is not a simple crush, a flash or a splash. Nor a trash, a crash or a rash. Clash is simply a clash between two things. Clash is for women and men who do not see life as black or white, but black and white, day and night, yin and yang, shock and chic, and rock and roll. Clash is eclectic and electric, iconic and ironic, super-hot and super-cool. Clash is preciously punk and seriously fun.”

Cartier has high hopes for this new collection, positioning it as the newest signature style of the brand, joining Love and Juste Un Clou. The 14-piece collection of hoop earrings, rings, necklaces, and bracelets is available in yellow and “pink” gold. One of our favorite design elements? The movement in each piece. Cartier’s master craftspeople have designed each piece with fluidity in mind, allowing each element to move, while also keeping it in place. This contradiction is one of the many thoughtfully built into the DNA of the collection.

See the pieces in action in the Clash de Cartier launch campaign film, shot by Gordon Von Steiner, starring English-Brazilian actress Kaya Scodelario. The face of the collection and the newest A-lister to join the ranks of Cartier’s celeb spokespeople, Scodelario plays two versions of herself, highlighting the dual nature of the line and dancing around to Billy Idol’s iconic hit Dancing With Myself
