After a four-year wait—the late Joël Robuchon’s much-anticipated restaurants have finally opened their doors in the Miami Design District. And there’s good reason for Miami foodies to be excited: with 32 Michelin stars to his name, the late chef and restaurateur was easily the most decorated chef in the world.
Originally announced in 2015, these two sister Robuchon restaurants are a welcome addition to the Miami dining scene and are located on the ground and second floors of Paradise Plaza at MDD. L’Atelier by Joël Robuchon has set the standard for elegant, modern French cuisine all over the world. The Miami location of the Michelin-starred concept upholds Robuchon’s tradition of interactive dining by having sushi counter-style dining in front of an open kitchen where chefs and diners can talk to each other as they work and eat. L’Atelier is open with limited reservations until their official opening on Wednesday, August 28th.
And speaking of eating, expect French fare made with locally and regionally-farmed ingredients and served like Spanish-style tapas in the form of a seasonal a la carte menu, 4- and 10-course tasting menus, and a menu with options for vegetarians. The famed Pommes Purée is there, as is La Caille with caramelized, free-range quail, foie gras and potato purée; La Langoustine with crispy langoustine papillote and fresh basil; and Le Boeuf with a grilled wagyu ribcap, summer vegetable “tian” and wild basil pesto.
Sitting directly below L’Atelier in Paradise Plaza, Le Jardinier is a new vegetable-forward concept by Robuchon’s longtime protege, Alain Verzeroli. Much like L’Atelier, it plays on the famous chef’s signature creative French fare. Dishes are prepared with fresh herbs and seasonal ingredients grown in the restaurant’s rooftop garden, and breads (including gluten-free options) are baked fresh onsite every day. Verzeroli has something for meat lovers, too. While much of the menu is plant based; tasty wild and sustainable fish, dressed meats and poultry options are also available. Some highlights include: bass with fennel, tomato confit and Meyer lemon; watermelon salad with heirloom tomatoes, ginger and mint; and a blueberry, lemongrass and eggless meringue dessert.
The great, late Joël Robuchon is finally debuting here in the Magic City. Dress to impress, Miami—this is reason to celebrate.
Le Jardinier opened to the public on Friday, August 16th, and L’Atelier is open with limited reservations until their official opening on Wednesday, August 28th.
Le Jardinier will be open on Sunday, and Tuesday through Thursday, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., and on Fridays and Saturdays, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
L’Atelier will be open Tuesday through Saturday, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Both restaurants are located in Paradise Plaza, at 151 NE 41st Street.
