Gagosian and Jeffrey Deitch Present ABSTRACT / NOT ABSTRACT
Abstract painting is one of the great innovations of modernism which continues to inspire and challenge artists. To make a fresh abstract painting today following all the remarkable achievements of the School of Paris and the New York School is daunting and challenging. Yet through the use of varied technologies, techniques, and approaches, this generation of artists continues to make astonishing and complex work with exciting innovations of the abstract tradition. "ABSTRACT / NOT ABSTRACT" will include work by contemporary artists who redefine abstraction for our time.
