Thierry Goldberg MIAMI
Thierry Goldberg MIAMI is pleased to present Tschabalala Self’s first solo exhibition in Miami, Florida, titled Sour Patch. As concepts of blackness and femininity continually evolve, Self has dedicated herself to naming the phenomenon that forcibly frames our contemporary understanding of the black body in a collective fantasy. Tschabalala Self (b. 1990, New York), currently lives and works in New York and New Haven. She holds an MFA from the Yale School of Art, and a BA from Bard College. Her work was previously exhibited in Trigger: Gender as a Tool and a Weapon at The New Museum (New York, NY); A Constellation at the Studio Museum in Harlem (New York, NY) and in A Shape That Stands Up at the Hammer Museum (Los Angeles, CA). She has had solo exhibitions at Thierry Goldberg Gallery (New York, NY); Tramway, (Glasgow, Scotland); Parasol Unit (London, UK); and T293 (Naples, IT), among others. Tschabalala Self's Sour Patch will run from December 5 - January 14.
The exhibition will be followed with Daily Navigation by David Shrobe, which opens January 20 and will run through to February 25.
