Dior is the latest major fashion brand to open up shop in Miami's Design District.
The French fashion label opened a flagship store for women's apparel and accessories at 162 Northeast 39th St. on Friday. The building's white facade was influenced by a Japanese-inspired dress from Dior's spring/summer 2007 couture collection.
"We always show the architects dresses when we do the facade," Sidney Toledano, president and CEO of Dior Couture, told WWD.
In Miami's Design District, Dior is surrounded by a slew of other high-end fashion and accessories brands, including Dior Homme, which opened a store a block away in 2012.
"Our neighbors are [Louis] Vuitton, Cartier and Hermès. You see the cross, and you have those four brands," Toledano said.
This new store features a VIP salon and a terrace customers can enjoy drinks on.
"Having good days in Florida, the terrace is for serving drinks and to enjoy and entertain. This is why we've developed those VIP rooms where we get some privacy, and the terrace adds to that," Toledano said.
The store's second floor, which houses ready-to-wear and footwear, was modeled off of Dior's SoHo store in New York City.
This Miami location is part of Dior's international expansion plan. In April, the brand will open a San Francisco store at 185 Post Street in Union Square, marking its fifth flagship in the U.S.
"Having a freestanding store, a big space, is the best way to express the brand. It's a commitment to the U.S. market," Toledano told WWD.
