Here's Why You Should Attend Watches & Wonders Miami This Weekend

Patricia Tortolani

This President's Day weekend, the Design District welcomes Watches & Wonders Miami - three days of shopping, ogling and workshops guaranteed to dazzle the horologically inclined.

Sure, your phone tells time, but is it the most important accessory in your wardrobe? No. The watch world is wider and more stylish than ever, and it’s coming to the Design District in grand form. From Feb. 16 to 19, a collection of boutiques and pop-up boutiques will display new styles and state-of-the-art technologies from 21 of the world’s leading luxury timepiece manufacturers, including Hublot, Louis Vuitton, Piaget and Van Cleef & Arpels. Expect old-school craftsmanship and GPS-enabled gizmos; dazzling diamonds and rich patinas. And precision. So much precision.

The weekend kicks off with an Emilio Estefanproduced performance in Paradise Plaza, followed by a gala in the Palm Court. Throughout the three-day event, guests can also check out Telling Time, a series of installations by contemporary artists. One highlight: Marin Raguz’s 24-hour video projections of dawn till dusk as seen on the Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean and North Sea. For the adventurous, there are virtual reality experiences, like piloting a Gruman F-5 fighter jet. Whether you’re a connoisseur, a collector, or just looking for a (very) special something to strap around your wrist, you won’t want to be late. miamidesigndistrict.net.
