This summer more than 450 guests gathered at the Design District’s Moore Building to sample signature menu items from 20 of South Florida’s top restaurants at MIAMI magazine’s  5th Annual To Live & Dine culinary event.

The featured restaurants were invited to the event based on being honored as one of The Finest 50 in the July/August issue of MIAMI magazine, and some of the Design District’s newest restaurants were in attendance serving up some tasty morsels. MC Kitchen served Baccala Raviolini with a saffron pernod English pea broth and crispy shoestrings; The Cypress Room showcased its unique take on Tuna Confit with grilled butterhead lettuce and egg topped on a crostini; and Oak Tavern delighted guests with its Smoked Pork Ribs with housemade BBQ sauce.

The restaurants’ executive or head chefs manned each station, giving guests not only a taste of the best dishes, but also a chance to interact with the masters behind the cuisine.

The evening benefited Chapman Partnership, an organization that empowers the homeless, by donating a portion of ticket sales, organizing an on-site raffle and collecting canned goods from attendees.

In addition to the bites, guests enjoyed complimentary cocktails created by special guests bartenders made with Herradura Blanco Tequila, Onli Beverages and Stella Artois. Attendees taking a break from the food and drink were able to relax on Antonini Modern Living’s furniture, check out models wearing the latest Joseph Aviv Fine Jewelry designs, take a peek at the new cars from Mercedes Benz of Coral Gables, while enjoying the music of DJ Mad Linx.
