It’s that time of year again! The South Beach Wine and Food Festival (SOBEWFF®) will be back in Miami next week, and everywhere you look, Magic City foodies are already excited to see what it has in store. Here #atMDD, we’re honoring the 16th installment of the event with a few fab-filled festivities of our own – and in true Design District fashion, we’re even throwing some celebrity chefs into the mix to really make it a party.
Bringing back a favorite from last year, Palm Court will once again play host to what might be SOBEWFF’s most “Miami-style” event, Croquetas & Champagne. The ticketed evet led by the venerable Jean-Georges Vongerichten and taking place that Saturday, February 25 from 10 p.m. to midnight, this late-night fête will celebrate the Magic City’s most popular dish: the croqueta. Joining JGV will be a collection of top local chefs — curated by none other than Burger Beast! — serving up their tastiest version of the fried food roll, all while guests dance under the stars, taste the chefs’ creations, and sip on endless glasses of Champagne Henriot.
And new this year, foodies far and wide are snatching up tickets to 10 Years of Genuine dinner hosted by Michael Schwartz, Marc Vetri and Jonathan Waxman. Taking place at Michael’s own namesake restaurant, Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink, on Thursday, February 23 from 7 to 10 p.m., this delicious evening will mark a rare SOBEWFF appearance by award-winning Chef Michael Schwartz. This dinner will celebrate the 10th anniversary of Schwartz’s flagship restaurant in the Design District, and because it deserves a night like no other, will feature out-of-this-world cuisine by Schwartz himself and some of his talented friends like Marc Vetri and 2016 SOBEWFF® Tribute Dinner Honoree Jonathan Waxman, to name a couple.
