2x4: Jungle, 2014
The name 2x4 playfully references the fundamental elements of architecture. Founded in 1994 by Michael Rock, Susan Sellers and Georgianna Stout, 2x4 is a collaborative studio; their prolific production is not confined to a single discipline, working across the fields of art, architecture and fashion. The massive mural “Jungle” provides a visual respite that references not only the south Florida landscape, but also the urban landscape of the Miami Design District. In addition to a Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award for Communications in 2006, 2x4 has been involved in long-term collaborations with architects such as Rem Koolhaas and featured in exhibitions at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and he Museum of Modern Art in New York. They maintain studios in New York City, Beijing and Madrid.
