Gavin Perry’s solo exhibition titled History Lesson-Part 2 comprises new sculpture and painting works, executed in his signature layering of pigmented resin. Perry explains, "This layering implicates the passage of time as a fundamental part of both production and meaning. Like an archeological site, each strata in my works acts as a log of a former state. At the same, each new layer also partially obscures previous layers and the overall “history” of the work, not by completely hiding what has come before but by blurring or veiling it.”  A celebrated Miami artist with a studio based in Allappatah, Gavin Perry is represented by Barbara Davis Gallery in Houston, Texas and Sultana Galerie in Paris France and Primary Projects in Miami.

Gavin Perry born in 1971 in Philadelphia, PA is a painter, sculptor and musician. He studied printmaking and painting at the Tyler School of Art, graduating with a BFA in both. He currently lives and works in Miami, FL. Perry has exhibited nationally and internationally. His work is included in the permanent collection of the PAMM in Miami, FL and at the CAC Milaga, Spain. In 2012, Perry was a finalist for the first annual Pratt Prix, an award for contemporary painting, in Paris, FR. He is a recipient of the prestigious 2009 South Florida Cultural Consortium fellowship award. Perry has had his work critically reviewed in various publications including Flash Art; Art in America; Art Papers; Art Nexus; the Miami Herald; and the New Times Miami.
