Women rarely need an excuse to browse the handbag section while shopping, but here's a new one: Vº73 by Elisabetta Armellin. Officially launched in 2012, the impeccably crafted handbag collection created from luxurious leathers and textiles has Venice roots. Luckily for Miamians, one need not jetset to Italy for a Vº73 by Elisabetta Armellin tote as the designer is opening her first U.S. store in the Design District this month.

Elisabetta’s foray into the rough-and-tumble world of fashion? She started designing at the age of 20 for brands such as Stefanel and Benetton. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, the impetus to start her own collection occurred during a saunter through the streets of Venice. As for the quirky name,  Vº73, 73 happens to be a recurrent number in her life — 73 being the year Elisabetta was born and the number displayed among the four figures of her atelier’s address.

To toast the opening of her Design Distrcit boutique, Elisabetta along with local fashionistas Kim Bacardi, Criselda Greene, Shanan Flaxman, Natasha Sen, Beba Ortega, Linda Levy Goldberg, Irene Korge and Marlen Pernetti will host a private Venetian themed grand opening celebration.  The evening will unveil a unique and original limited edition collection, conceived and designed with an exclusive collaboration and partnership with Galleria degli Uffizi Firenze and available through special order only.  The collection features a never-before-seen print by Leonardo da Vinci, as well. Guests will enjoy an Italian style aperitivo and view a high-tech presentation of the exclusive prints from the archives of the museum.

Bella!
