If MTV Unplugged and TED Talk had a baby, it would look like “The Love Song of R. Buckminster Fuller.”  Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Sam Green returns with a live documentary featuring legendary indie rock band Yo La Tengo.  In a thoughtful on-stage collaboration, Green is the engaging narrator while Yo La Tengo delivers a rich soundtrack layered with film clips, photographs, letters, and blueprints from Fuller’s immense body of work.

"The Love Song's" format has roots in the Benshi film tradition of Japan.  Since incarnated in contemporary renditions such as PechaKucha (a global architecture speaker series) and Green’s first live documentary project, “Utopia in Four Movements,” this storytelling style teeters on presentation and performance.

Fuller, who championed the cross-pollination of ideas, would have been proud.  With his signature geodesic domes sprinkled throughout Florida, even the MDD is planning for its very own Fuller “Fly's Eye Dome,” compliments of the Craig Robins Collection and Miami Design District Associates.
